Rob and I met on a blind date in 1997 in Chicago. He was a self-employed carpenter. I was a writer at a toy manufacturer. We eloped four months later (not everyone knows this), had the traditional wedding and reception six months after that, and rented our first little house in Evanston, Illinois.

Two sons, five dogs, five states, and 22 houses (some rented, some owned) later, we are happily settled in Maine.
